About this Discount Calculator
Sale signs shout 40% OFF but what will you actually pay? Enter the price and discount to see the final price and your exact saving. Add a second discount for stacked Black Friday offers and an optional tax rate to see the true checkout total in the USA or UK (VAT included prices note in the FAQ).
How to use it
- Enter the original price.
- Add the discount percentage (and a second one if stacked).
- Optionally add sales tax, then calculate.

Frequently asked questions
How do stacked discounts work?
They apply one after another, not added together. 40% off then extra 20% off is not 60% off - $100 becomes $60, then $48.
Should tax be added before or after discount?
In most US states sales tax is charged on the discounted price. In the UK, shelf prices already include VAT.
How do I find the original price from a sale price?
Divide the sale price by (1 - discount/100). For example $60 after 40% off came from $100.
