Your form says the photo must be under 200KB, your phone photo is 4MB, and the deadline is tonight. This happens to students, job applicants and visa applicants every single day - here is the 30 second fix.
Why online forms reject your photo
Most portals set strict file limits, often 50KB to 200KB, because they store millions of applications. A modern phone photo is 3-6MB, which is 20 times too big. Emailing it to yourself or screenshotting it ruins the quality and can still miss the limit.
The quality setting nobody explains
Image quality and image size are linked. At 100% quality you keep every detail and a giant file. At 80% the file usually drops by 60-80% and your eyes cannot see the difference on a form or a printed ID photo. Only go below 60% if the portal demands a very small file.
Step by step: shrink it in 30 seconds
Open a free image compressor, add your photo, set quality to 80 and check the new size. Still too big? Slide to 65, then 50. Download the result and upload that file to your form. Your original stays untouched on your phone, so you can try again as many times as you need.
