About this countdown
The Thanksgiving Countdown counts down, second by second, to Thanksgiving Day — always the fourth Thursday of November — in your own time zone. Open the page and the numbers start ticking on their own: days, hours, minutes and seconds, updating every second for as long as the page stays open. Thanksgiving Day 2026 falls on Thursday, November 26, 2026, and the counter counts down to midnight at the start of that day, local time.
Everything runs in your browser. There is no sign-up, no download and nothing is uploaded — the whole countdown is a small piece of code on this page, so it works on a phone, a tablet or a computer without installing anything.
How to use it
- Just open the page. The countdown starts automatically — there is nothing to set up and no date to type in.
- Read the four boxes. Days, hours, minutes and seconds remaining until Thanksgiving Day.
- Check the line underneath. It tells you the same gap in weeks and in total hours, and how many “sleeps” are left.
- Come back any time. After Thanksgiving Day has passed, the counter automatically rolls over to the next Thanksgiving, so the page never goes out of date.

Why is Thanksgiving always on a Thursday?
